Who We Are

Peoria Academy now serves students in Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade. Student growth has been significant since the school's inception with a current enrollment of 270 students. In most grade levels, Peoria Academy has two classes per grade level. Class sizes are small, with no more than 20 students per class. What makes Peoria Academy so unique is its method of teaching.

Individual differences among students are acknowledged and embraced. Multi-sensory teaching styles are provided to engage all learning styles. The classes are often divided into small groups, which rotate frequently to allow students opportunities to learn material in a variety of ways. Activities within these small groups vary, allowing for cooperative learning, individualized instruction and active learning. While textbooks are used in the classroom, they are resources for learning, but are not the sole source of information. Projects and group work are common. We provide computers in each classroom, and utilize a one-to-one program in the middle school.

The curriculum also encompasses the fine arts and foreign language for students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grades. The school program constantly strives to enrich the students' learning. Middle school students also utilize a PBL or project-based learning day in which they are responsible for scheduling and utilizing their time to complete projects and activities for their classes. During this day students work both independently and collaboratively to show creativity and to learn responsibility. Peoria Academy is dedicated to the academic and personal growth of each child. It's a safe and nurturing environment that provides each child with a foundation for life.
